Be kindly affectionate to one another

Be kindly affectionate to one another

How to live life as a Christian; Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love.

Just because you’re a Christian, it doesn’t mean you automatically have all the answers on how to live life. But we try our best by reading, praying, studying God’s word, and relying on the Holy Spirit. Even when we are doing all of that, we sometimes struggle to know what the right thing to do is. When we read Romans 12:10 we are reminded of something that we really shouldn’t have to be reminded to do. Sometimes it is so hard to Be kindly affectionate to one another, with brotherly love as we are living life as a Christian.

*Every Monday I will post another important aspect from scripture, on how God wants us to live life like a Christian. I will do this until we have covered the whole chapter.*

SCRIPTURE:

Romans 12:10

10Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

BEHAVIOUR:

Be kindly affectionate to one another.

WHAT AND HOW:

  • What does it mean to be kindly affectionate to one another?
  • How does being kindly affectionate to one another help us live life as a Christian?

What does it mean to be kindly affectionate to one another? First of all, it means that we treat others in a kind manner, with brotherly love. When we show someone brotherly love, we remember that GOD is the foundation of the love, because we are treating them like they are brothers in Christ. Secondly, lets remember the two greatest commandments that God gives us, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:35-39) These two commandments are the basis of being kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love. I say this because it’s all based on how God commands us to love, first loving God, and loving each other knowing that God loves them too.

Living out this behavior helps us to live life as Christian because it is based on our faith in God, knowing that He loves us despite our flaws and mistakes.

CONCLUSION:

Despite our flaws and mistakes we know that God shows us His mercy, grace, and love. Just like God does this for us, we need to show kindness to others despite their flaws and mistakes, just like God does for us.

COMING UP: In honor giving preference to one another.
