New Year New Focus? How about Refocus?

New Year New Focus? How about Refocus?

The new year is a good time to reevaluate your priorities. What are your priorities? Do you need to change them, maybe rearrange them? So, ask yourself these 3 questions, “What do you think they are, what are they and what do you want them to be”? I worded it this way for one reason, because we tend to think we are living out our priorities in order, when we actually are not. In actuality, we treat our #1 like it’s on the bottom of the list, and give our least priority higher ranking than we should. Now’s the time to reevaluate how you are living out your priorities. New Year New Focus, How about Refocus?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

TOP 3

First, to help us refocus in the new year, write out what you think your top 3 priorities in your life are. 1 being your top priority, then 2, then 3. (You can make this list as long as like)

  1. Top importance in your life
  2. Second importance
  3. Third importance

WHAT ARE THEY?

TRUE OR FALSE?

Secondly, evaluate your list. So, to do this, begin by asking yourself if you are living out your priorities as numbered above.

  1. What do you do that makes your #1 priority really your #1?
  2. What do you do that makes your #2 priority really your #2?
  3. What do you do that makes your #3 priority really your #3?

Next, review your answers. Is your top 3 true or false? Decide if you’re living your life like your #1 is really your #1, or like it is your # 3 or maybe it’s your #5?

WHAT DO YOU WANT THEM TO BE?

REFOCUS!

Thirdly, Take time right now to refocus on what you want your priorities to be.

  • Reorganize your list!
    • For instance, making additions, or maybe you have to Remove something, maybe Rearrange?
    • Number your priorities 1- 3 or however long you want it to go. But really focus on your top 3.
  • Focus!
    • For example, after each priority, write out what you’re going to do to make it a priority in your life.
  • Review!
    • Lastly, are your priorities are in the correct order.
    • Do your need to change any of your actions (for living out your priorities)?
  • Remember!
    • Put your list somewhere you will see it on a regular basis. You want to have a physical reminder, so you will be encouraged by YOUR OWN words!

Conclusion

In conclusion, in order to refocus in the new year take time to refocus your priorities. Step back and see if your actions and desires are really in tune with what you want your priorities to be. Everyone needs to refocus and reevaluate their life on a regular basis. Remember that these are YOUR priorities, not how someone else wants you to prioritize your life.
