ANTS: God created ants, and He wants you to be like them!

Read each question out loud. Refer to the answer(s) in parentheses for help, if needed. Remember, depending on the age of the children, you may have to reword the questions and answers.

QUESTIONS

  1. Describe what an ant looks like.
(Big or small, shape, color, how many legs, etc. The younger the child, the less detail you expect them to have.)
  2. Have the kids compare themselves to the size of an ant.
(Stress how small an ant is compared to them.)
  3. Do you think God pays attention to such a small creature?
(Let them say their answer. Do not correct them if they say no. The answer will be talked about in the next question.)
  4. Yes, He does! God cares about them so much that He talks about ants in the Bible! We are going to read what God says about them! Read Proverbs 6:6-8.
(Read directly from scripture. We want the kids to know exactly what the Bible says, so when they are older, the bible won’t sound foreign to them.)
  5. What does God tell us about the ant?
(You may have to reword the answers, depending on the age of the child. If they are young children, you can tell what God says, instead of asking them.)
Ants are not lazy! They are hard workers!
Ants do not need someone to tell them what they have to do!
Ants find their food and then they store it away, so they don’t run out!)

  6. In Verse 6, God tells us we should be wise like an ant! How can you be wise like an ant?
(You can make this extra fun and have the children crawl around like an ant and yell out their answers. You can print up pictures of ants along with right and wrong answers, and have them match them up.
Possible Answers: Not being lazy. If something needs to be done, do it.
You could clean up after yourself without anyone telling you to.
You could clean your room without anyone telling you to.
Help someone without them asking you.)

When doing children’s bible study lessons, some possible answers are in the parentheses. Encourage the children to answer before you give them answer(s).  Have fun spending time in God’s word with the kids. If we fellowship with them when they are young, they will want to fellowship with us when they are older.

I wrote many FAMILY BIBLE STUDIES for small our small group bible study and to do at home with my own children. I am now writing them for my grandchildren. I pray that you and your children will be blessed because you have chosen to get into God’s word together.
