LORD, HELP ME GIVE THANKS

LORD, HELP ME GIVE THANKS

A Bible Study on Giving Thanks, based off of Psalm 136

Giving thanks to God seems easy enough, but I know I don’t thank God as often as I should. Because of this, I have created an easy to follow bible study on giving thanks to God.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You God for Your word, and showing me what You want me to see. You are the One True God, and You are all powerful, all merciful, and all knowing! Firstly, I know I should thank You more often, not taking You for granted. Secondly, I know that You love me and show mercy that is never ending. This is true because Your enduring mercy gives me salvation, and that last forever!
In Jesus name I pray to You God, asking that You help me to be more willing in giving thanks to You! Also, help me see the little things, the big things, the good things, and even the tribulations with a thankful heart. In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.

For His mercy endures forever.

For His mercy endures forever.

QUESTIONS:

God’s Mercy Endures Forever

God’s Mercy is basically the kindness and forgiveness that He show us. Salvation, forgiving us of all our sins so we can live for eternity with Him in Heaven, is Gods ultimate act of mercy towards us.

  • Why is it important to be thankful for God’s mercy?

  • Why should we be thankful that His mercy endures forever?

Giving thanks in all circumstances

Psalm 136 tells us to thank God, and then tells us of different events that God has done. All of those events are said with a thankful heart, even though they were not all joyful times!

  • What are some of the different things that the writer is thankful for that, that God Himself did?

  • Why do you think we need to be thankful for the tribulations and the celebrations?

Giving thanks to God for everything

It’s time to thank God! When we do this, we are going to use the same format as in Psalm 136. Simply finish the thoughts. Fill in what YOU are feeling, what YOU are thankful for, what YOU want to express to God with a THANKFUL HEART!

  • Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is_______________________________________!
    His mercy endures forever
  • Oh, give thanks to the Lord of______________________________________________!
    His mercy endures forever:
  • To Him who alone does ____________________________________________________,
    His mercy endures forever;
  • To Him who by wisdom made _____________________________________________,
    His mercy endures forever;
  • To Him who answered my prayer when ___________________________________,
    His mercy endures forever;

In the following spaces, write anything you want to give thanks for.

  • _________________________________________________________________________,
    His mercy endures forever
  • _________________________________________________________________________,
    God’s mercy endures forever
  • _________________________________________________________________________,
    His mercy endures forever
  • _________________________________________________________________________,
    God’s mercy endures forever

CONCLUSION

To end this bible study on giving thanks, I leave you with this last verse.
