10 WAYS TO GET MOTIVATED FOR GOD

10 WAYS TO GET MOTIVATED FOR GOD

Some days it’s hard to be motivated, let alone motivated for God. With that said, even on those hard days God calls us to fellowship with Him on a regular basis. We want to create happiness, joy and excitement for God, but first we have to get motivated! Once we start and begin to see the results, that will help us to stay motivated! It’s a process that we must work at on a regular basis. I pray that the following 10 ideas will help you get and stay motivated for God.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

I Peter 2:1-3

10 WAYS TO GET MOTIVATED

1 Know scripture

Christians need to know scripture, especially scripture telling us what God’s will for us is. How can you be motivated to do God’s will if you don’t know God’s will?

Go To Church – Acts 2:42, 46-47
Read your bible – Matthew 4:4
Pray/fellowship with God – I Thessalonians 5:16-18

The more you know, the more motivated you will be to keep fellowshipping with God, and other believers. Let that be your motivation to live the Christian life that God Calls you to.

2 Give yourself easy access to what God wants you to do

You will be a little more motivated to do what God wants for you if you make it easy for yourself. If you have to search for your bible, prayer journals, bible study book every time you going to get annoyed and not do it. Also, if you have not set aside time to pray or fellowship with God your not making it easy for your self. Make it convenient, so you have a better chance to follow through when you are motivated.

So, put your bible, prayer journal, and bible study where you always see it. Download a bible app on your phone and put it on your home screen, along with your favorite christian websites. Make it easy for yourself to have motivation for God, and to act on it!

3 Put yourself around Christians

Hebrews 10:24-25

Be around people who are doing what you want to be motivated to do. The following things can help you get motivated for God. Go to church, bible studies, christian fellowshipping opportunities, listen to sermons on the radio, YouTube, podcast etc. If you have children join some kind of christian parenting group. Your motivation will increase if you surround yourself with Christians who express, and show their love for God.

4 Make doing God’s will enjoyable and not a chore

John 15:11
Proverbs 17:22

If you put a personalized spin on what you are doing you will enjoy it more, and be more motivated to keep doing it. For example, if you have a hard time staying focused while praying, try doing a prayer journal. If you like to write side notes in your bible, or like to doodle or draw, try bible journaling. Other option can be listening to the bible, or sermons etc while you walk or work, or if you like games download some bible games or make your own. If you have kids, make sure their fellowship time is fun and enjoyable too.

5 Make a schedule and goals

Proverbs 21:5

Being motivated can be hard when you don’t know what to do, or where to start. Making a daily or weekly schedule, along with short and long term goals, will help. Goals can be a great motivator!

6 Get a mentor, prayer partner, Christian friend

Hebrews 10:24-25

When you have someone to talk with on regular basis it will help you be accountable to doing God’s will, which in turn will give you a little more motivation to fellowship with God.

7 Be realistic

Don’t expect to do more than you can do! In other words, if you are not use to reading the bible (or have a hard time reading it) don’t make your goal to read for an hour. Shoot for 5-10 minutes, maybe a chapter or a set number of verses. When we set goals that unrealistic we set ourselves up for disappointment. On the other hand, do not make your goals to easy either. If we have low expectations for ourselves we will not find satisfaction in it, which will also bring down our motivation. So, be realistic by setting attainable short and long term goals and a schedules.

Matthew 5:13-16

Share what you are doing/learning with others when you feel the Holy Spirit leading you to. This is something that God calls us to do. Sharing is not motivation, but when you share you are a witness of God, and there is a blessing that comes along with it. The blessing is motivation. Sharing with others will help you stay motivated for God. This is true because you are reinforcing what you have learned/are doing, and the more you talk about it the more you will want to learn/do. The more you do it, the better chance you will keep on doing it.

9 Encourage other Christians to join you

Hebrews 10:24025

Encourage others to have regular fellowship with God, and other Christians. In doing this you are giving another Christian that much needed motivation and encouragement that is needed. In addition, you are motivating yourself to stay on track. For example, If you are encouraging someone to read their bible you better be reading it too. This is a great way to motivate yourself and to help motivate other Christians.

10 Be happy about doing what God wants you to do.

Psalm 16:11

God wants you to be humble and not prideful, but, He also wants you to find the joy that comes with following Him.
Remember, everyone needs motivation in some area of their life. You are no exception! Chose to do what God wants you do, and God will show you the peace and joy that comes along with it.
