A bible study on spiritual blessings

We hear a lot about blessings from God, being blessed, and blessing others. But did you realize that there are a couple types of blessings? Firstly, there are material blessings. These are tangible blessings. Secondly, there are spiritual blessings. These are intangible blessings. Today, for this bible study blog we’re going to focus only on the spiritual kind of blessing.

SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS BIBLE VERSES

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Ephesians 1:3 NKJV

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. HOW TO RECEIVE SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS

In order to receive the spiritual type of blessing, we have to be In Christ. Ephesians 1:3 talks about this. When you think about being In Christ, think about how Christ is a part of your life. We are in Christ when we have accepted the free gift of salvation, and we are living out that faith. Read Ephesians 1:3-14 to get a better understanding of what this means.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,
You give us many things that we don’t deserve. But, because You love us, You want to give us what we need and some of what we want, as long as it is inline with Your will.
Thank You Lord for granting me the ultimate spiritual blessing, which is salvation. I can not fully understand and appreciate how great this is, but I am thankful for it!
Help me to see all the blessings that You give, and will continue to give me, now and for eternity!

Why do we get spiritual blessings when we are In Christ? When we are “In Christ” we receive multiple spiritual blessings because of salvation, that we can ONLY receive IF we are in Christ. Spiritual blessings are from God, and God alone, and He gives them to His children.

List some spiritual blessings from this scripture. God chose us to be saved, redemption, forgiveness of sins, knowing His will, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and a future inheritance.

List other spiritual blessings. A relationship with God, peace, grace and mercy, and the beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) are a few example of other spiritual blessings.

What is the difference between spiritual blessings and material blessings? Spiritual blessings come directly from God and are generally intangible, and material blessings are given to us by man (through God) and are usually tangible.
