Most of the time we feel alone during these life experiences, but we are not! In fact, it’s so common that God wrote about this very topic! Therefore, join us as we focus on 8 attitudes that God will bless us for having. Todays focus attitude is Meekness.
*Every Monday for 8 weeks, I will post an attitudes that God will bless us for having. I will do this until we cover all 8 attitudes (links below) *
ATTITUDE AND BLESSING
Attitude: MEEKNESS
Blessing: Will inherit the earth
Scripture: Matthew 5:5
MEANING AND APPLICATION
Meaning:
Meek is having a quiet, gentle, submissive attitude.
Life Experience:
EXAMPLE 1: Sometimes we just need to sit back, listen and believe. Actually, first we need to go to God expecting to hear from Him, then sit back, listen and believe. When we live our Christian life with meekness we put God # 1 in our life, and believing Him 100%. By believing His word and applying it to our life, God blesses us by opening our eyes to everything in this world He has given us. In turn, it gives us a better appreciation for God. The meekness continues.
EXAMPLE 2: The world doesn’t look at meekness favorably, but God does! In fact, when we have a humble heart towards others, giving them credit and appreciation, God will bless us. The more meekness we show, accepting that we are not #1 in this world, God softens our heart and opens our eyes to appreciate the many things He has given us.
SCRIPTURE READING
Matthew 5:1-12
And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Luke 6:20-23
Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
