Blessing: You will be filled
Scripture: Matthew 5:6, Luke 6:21

MEANING AND APPLICATION

Meaning: To Hunger and Thirst for righteousness is to desire righteousness. It means craving to seek God and His word.

Life Experience:
EXAMPLE 1: Sometimes as a Christian our spirit feels down. When this happens we can start to crave God’s presence in our life. Craving God is another way to say that we Hunger and Thirst for righteousness. When this happens we seek God through prayer, scripture, worship music, fellowshipping, and other ways. The good part of this is that God will fill us with His presence! Sometimes it’s by feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit in us, in which it gives us unspeakable joy.

EXAMPLE 2: In this life, we know that we are to follow God and His will for us. I know that sometimes our desire to seek this falls way short. When this happens, but we still strive to follow God’s will, we are hungering and thirsting for righteousness. God will fill us when we desire to be filled!

SCRIPTURE READING

Matthew 5:1-12

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 6:20-23

Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.

Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
