8 ATTITUDES THAT GOD WILL BLESS US FOR HAVING (FROM THE BEATITUDES); Day 7 Peacemaker

We know that everyone is different, with different personalities, but even though this is true, everyone experiences similar emotions, attitudes and experiences. Most of the time we feel alone during these life experiences, but we are not! In fact, it’s so common that God wrote about this very topic!  Therefore, join us as we focus on 8 attitudes that God will bless us for having. Sotodays focus attitude is being a Peacemaker.

*Every Monday for 8 weeks, I will post an attitudes that God will bless us for having. I will do this until we cover all 8 attitudes (links below) *

ATTITUDE AND BLESSING

Attitude: PEACEMAKER
Blessing: You will be called sons of God
Scripture: Matthew 5:9

MEANING AND APPLICATION

Meaning: A Peacemaker tries to prevent conflict, current and future . They do this in a way that is inline with God’s will, not wanting to cause more problems, but defuse it in a calm and civil way.

Life Experience:
EXAMPLE 1: There is one area in life that we can all be peacemakers, it’s with our family. No matter what role you play, a grandparent, dad, mom, child, an in law, etc. you can always try to keep the peace and not cause arguments and distress. Part of being a peacemaker is doing your best to be peaceful. You can only control you, and when you strive to be peaceful in your family, by being civil and calm, others will notice. Most importantly Your Heavenly Father will notice, and He will call you a son of God!

EXAMPLE 2: The hardest time to be a peacemaker is when someone is giving us a hard time. When we are being ridiculed, lied about, persecuted etc., that is when God calls on us to be peacemakers. In those situations we are not suppose to fuel the flames of hateful actions. Instead, we are to have an understanding heart and look at the whole picture, acting how God wants us to and not how we want to. Others will see our reactions and know that we are a child of God. Even if they don’t tell you this, they see it!

SCRIPTURE READING

Matthew 5:1-12

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 6:20-23

Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
