Basics of Prayer

Basics of Prayer

BACK TO BASICS; BASICS OF PRAYER

Sometimes we need to go back to basics. We do this when we need to work on an area in our life. Right now I am working on my prayer life, praying more and having more substance to my prayers. In other words, I need to go back to the basics of prayer.

In this post you will get taken back, to the basics of prayer. Sometimes we overcomplicate our Christian life, especially our prayer life. Here I will do the exact opposite. So, open your mind and your Bible!

BASICS OF PRAYER

IT’S BETWEEN YOU AND GOD
MATTHEW 6:5-8

  • Be alone with God – vs 6
  • Don’t pray with vain repetition – vs 7
  • Remember that God knows your needs before you ask Him – vs 8

WHAT TO PRAY ABOUT
MATTHEW 6:9-13

  • Acknowledge who God is – vs 9
  • Pray about God’s will being done – vs 10
  • Pray for your needs (not just wants) – vs 11
  • Admit your sins and ask for forgiveness – vs 12
  • Forgive (through prayer) others – vs 12
  • Ask God to keep you from temptations – vs 13
  • and to Protect you from evil – vs 13
  • Praise God for everything that is His – vs 13

CONCLUSION

This is God’s basic outline of prayer just for us. God filled the Bible with life instructions for His children. With this said, don’t let God’s word and His written examples go to waste.
To start with, decide your prayer place. Mine is a prayer journal and a pen. Yours may be on your knees, in bed, or it may be having worship music playing in the background. Whatever and where ever it is, go there and get back to the basics of prayer.
