Can You Study the Bible?

Can You Study the Bible?

Can you study the bible? Can you study the bible on your own? Yes you can!

God’s word is here for everybody to read and understand. If you are a follower of God, this book was made for you.

2 Timothy says “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

God wrote the bible for you, and He has given you the ability to understand it. He will show you what He wants you to know. God is good, and if you study His word He will guide and direct you to wisdom and understanding according to His will for you.

If you want to study the bible, but you don’t know where to start, try one of our Short Bible Studies for free. If you already study the bible, but your not sure what to study next, try one of our Longer Bible Studies for free.

WHERE TO START?

Start by reading. You can find lots and lots of opinions on where to start. But honestly it doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you start. I read Psalms and Proverbs, then the NT and then the OT.

WHAT TO STUDY?

It’s up to you! Again you can find lots and lots of opinions on what to study first. But honestly, God just wants you in His word, wanting to learn and grow closer to Him.

When I first started I studied after I read. As I read I had (and still have) so many questions, so that’s what’s I would study. I would take one of my questions and try to find the answer using the cross references in my bible and a bible dictionary. That’s all. One thing that I would try to do was to stay away from footnotes and commentaries, until I had my answer. I did this because I wanted my own opinion before I heard someone else’s thoughts. I wanted God’s word to be my first influence.

You have many options! Study a topic that you struggle with. Do this by searching verses on that topic, and then taking notes. Study something that you are familiar with, like the Lords Prayer (Matthew 6), or the Beatitudes (Matthew 5). You have lots of options, choose what you want.

Still not sure what to study? Check out our Free Bible Studies. We have multiple types; Short Studies, Longer Studies, and Children/Family Studies.
