HOW CAN I HELP A NEW CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD?

HOW CAN I HELP A NEW CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD?

Do you want to encourage a new Christian in their fellowship time with God? Below, I will give you a few ideas that may help you with that. I will include links to past blog article that will answer the questions that many Christians ask themselves, “What book of the bible should I read first?” or “How do I start studying the Bible?”.

Reading the bible, bible studies, and prayer, can be daunting for seasoned Christians, so just image how hard it can be for new Christians!

WHERE NEW CHRISTIANS SHOULD START

Where to start reading in the bible, or where to start studying the bible for beginners, is a common question that Christians just beginning to open the bible ask themselves. I would suggest starting off by asking them what bible/religious topics are they interested in, like prayer, salvations, baptism, peace, etc. and go from there. If you have them start off with a topic that you feel is important for them to read or study, but they are not interested in, what’s their incentive to follow through with it? If they don’t have a specific area of interest, have them start off studying the foundation of our faith, Salvation! A good place to start would be reading the 4 gospels, starting with John, and doing a bible study on Salvation.

3 WAYS TO ENCOURAGE A NEW CHRISTIAN

PRAYER

Prayer connects us to the foundation of our faith, our relationship with God! It is so very important to encourage other Christians to understand the importance of prayer.

HOW TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO PRAY

Pray with them, give them scripture about prayer (for them to read and study), show them how to do a prayer journal, and encourage them to pray everyday and all day. (We should always be focused on God in everything we do.)

READING THE BIBLE

Reading the Bible is important because it’s God’s word for us to learn from and live by. It should not be taken for granted.

HOW TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO READ THE BIBLE

The 4 gospels would be a good place to start because they focus on Jesus, the gospel, and our Christian walk. Suggest bible translations that will be easy for them to read and understand, like MEV or ESV. Also, suggest books/chapters that are NOT hard to read. Some of the Old Testament books are hard to read, they can be VERY hard to get through, even for seasoned Christians.

6 REASONS WHY SCRIPTURE IS IMPORTANT FOR CHRISTIANS

BIBLE STUDY

It’s important to not just read the Bible, but to study it. God’s word is here to help us live the Christian life, which can be hard sometimes.

HOW TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO STUDY THE BIBLE

Encourage them to study the bible by helping them understand that God will relate scripture to them personally! God will use His Holy Spirit to speak to them, and to help them understand it.  Have them start with topics that they are interested in. Show them how to use cross references, and a concordance, along with google to search for verses on the chosen topic of interest (I like blue letter bible, I have a bible app on my computer, and I used a bible dictionary when I first started.)
