JAMES 5:16 – PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
James 5:16 is more than praying for others. It is Christian fellowshipping at its best!
Life is filled with struggles. Some of those struggles may be sins that we need to conquer, lifestyle changes, or maybe we’re struggling physically or emotionally. Sometimes it’s hard to bear our sins and burdens to one another. But, God tells us in James 5:16, to pray for one another.
CONFESS
The Confessing Christian:
- CONFESS
This word means that we have to have a personal conversation with our Christian friends. This conversation revolves around confession. Confessing means admitting and talking about a weakness, a sin, or a struggle! It’s usually very personal. - PRAY
After we confess to someone, we need to ask them to pray! We need to let them pray for us and with us. We do this once, twice, three times, however long we are struggling! - HEALED
The more we pray, the more we continue to confess (update, accountability), the easier it will be to overcome our struggles. Healing isn’t overnight, it takes time! Also, healing comes in many forms.
PRAY
The Prayer Partner
- LISTEN
We need to listen when someone confesses their trespasses to us! They trust you to listen, to pray, and to encourage them. - PRAY
When someone asks us to pray, it doesn’t stop with one prayer. We need to pray with them, we need for them, and we need to pray often! - HEALED
If we want them to be healed we must encourage them to continue confessing because healing doesn’t come after one prayer. Help them find healing by being there for them. Listen when they confess (give you updates), ask how they are doing (accountability) and pray often (with and without them).
