Biblical communication; What does the Bible teach Christians on the topic of speech?
Christians do have a hard time with their speech. Some more than others. The Bible clearly tells us that we need to be mindful of the words that roll off our tongue. In this blog article we will read scripture from Proverbs to help us with our biblical communication.
DOES GOD HEAR EVERYTHING WE SAY?
Proverbs 12:22 shares with us how God feels about the words that come out of our mouth.
This shows that God indeed hears EVERYTHIING we say! Our words do not have to be directed to God for Him to hear us. He delights in those who speak truthfully! That should be our goal!
HOW DOES OUR SPEECH AFFECT THOSE AROUND US?
Our words can cut deep into the soul, or bring healing. They are powerful, sometimes leaving scars that aren’t always seen. But, they can also be so impactful that scars that are present may be healed!
Our words can bring healing, or create wombs.
Again, the words that roll off our tongues can greatly impact others. Will your words create anger or prevent it? Your speech, if wholesome, can bring life into a person. On the other hand, if it’s not it can break a person’s spirit.
We can choose to be wise with our words, or let foolishness roll off our tongues.
WISDOM ON SPEACH
God is telling us how important our words are. If we are not mindful our sinful nature will be reflected in our words.
In God’s eyes when we choose to be righteous with our words we are compared to silver, a precious metal. Unlike the wicked with their words that are worth very little.
We can choose to benefit others through our words, or be fools that ignore the wisdom of God.
