Have you ever wondered why the Bible was written? Who came up with the idea to write scripture about God?  How did people know what to write about God or what God would want them to write?  Who is the best person or people to write about God? Why isn’t more and more scripture constantly being written?

Numbers 33:2, At God’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages:

What did Moses write about?: their (Israel’s) journey
Whose idea was it to write scripture about their journey?: God’s (Moses was commanded to write)

Jeremiah 36:2, Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.

What did Jeremiah (or his scribe) write about?: Israel, Judah, and the nations
Whose idea was it to write about Israel, Judah, and the nations?: God’s (He said to take a scroll and write)

John 1:45, Philip found Nathanael and said, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Who did Moses write about?: Jesus (Messiah, The Chosen One, The Christ, The Saviour)
Was Jesus alive when Moses wrote about HIm? No, Jesus was born over 600 years after Moses wrote about Him.

The best people to write about God and His law, commands, creation, sin sacrifices and so on…are people God chooses.  God told prophets, kings, priests, scribes and apostles exactly what He wanted them to write.  The statement “Thus says the Lord” is in the Bible over 400 times and “The Lord spoke” is in the Bible over 130 times.

Every person that wrote about Jesus, in the New Testament of the Bible, was with Jesus every day or talked to Jesus personally.  They were eyewitnesses (like John) and saw and heard everything Jesus did.

No more scripture needs to be written because Jesus fulfilled the law and scripture,  Plus, God tells us what will happen in the future. One of many things that will happen in the future is Jesus returning to Earth.

Matthew 5:17, Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. Assuredly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law until all is fulfilled.

Matthew 24:30-31 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see Jesus coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other
