THE BOOK OF JOB, IT’S ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE!

THE BOOK OF JOB, IT’S ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE!

IT’S ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE!

What happens when we look at a situation from the wrong perspective? What happens when we think we know all the details, to only later find out that we were missing some important information? What happens when we jump to conclusions without looking at the big picture?

Nothing good happens when we have the wrong perspective on a situation, besides maybe learning a valuable lesson! But we do this all the time! WE TRY TO FIGURE LIFE OUT WHEN WE HAVE THE WRONG PERSPECTIVE. Today we are going to use Job, the book of Job, to learn a lesson about perspective.

Book of Job

BOOK OF JOB

In a nutshell, the book of Job is about a godly man named Job who is living a great life. Family, friends, doesn’t work for anyone else, he is his own boss, he has more than he needs! He goes to God regularly, not just on his own behalf, but for his kids as well. He has a great life! Then all of sudden it was all taken away. Job stays faithful to God through it all, but doesn’t understand why it’s happening, and wants God to end his life. His friends come to comfort him, but they only make him feel worse, because they put all the blame on Job. They keep telling him that he is a very sinful man and he needs to repent, and this is why God is doing all of this to him. The book ends by God setting everyone straight, and giving them the true perspective that they should have had from the beginning.

JOB’S PERSPECTIVE

Job wants to know why he is going through all of this, and he wants to know if it’s because of something he has done wrong. Job’s is looking at this situation through his own perspective, not God’s, so it’s all wrong. The positive is that Job doesn’t deny or curse God, but he does question God’s actions and motives.

At this time only God knew all the details of why Job’s life was in chaos. Only God knew why it was happening, who was doing it, how long it was going to last etc.. Job certainly didn’t know. Job was trying to figure out why it was happening by only looking at it through his own perspective, and not God’s. Job wanted to know “Why is this happening?”, when God just wanted Job to trust Him.

Job didn’t realize that God wasn’t doing those things to him, it was Satan! Job doesn’t realize that this was happening because God LOVED him and TRUSTED him to be faithful till the end. Job didn’t realize that he was glorifying God (to Satan) every time he DID NOT curse or turn away from God. Job wasn’t able to look at his life situation through God’s perspective. I’m not sure any of us would have been able to.

JOB’S FRIEND’S PERSPECTIVE

Job’s friends really thought that they were giving good advice. They came to him with the intensions of helping and encouraging him, but they actually had they opposite effect on Job. They looked at everything that was happening to Job through their own perspective, not through Job’s eyes, or God’s eyes. They had one perspective, and it was missing lots and lots of details. They were set on believing that Job was in the wrong and God was punishing him for it. So they continued to push their false perspective on Job, which did not help or encourage him in anyway!

CONCLUSION

No matter how hard we try we will never be able to figure out God’s plan in its entirety. We will not know why He chooses to do things or chooses to lets things happen, because we will never know the full story! We need to keep a good perspective that is not focused on our own opinions, but God’s. We need to have a God Perspective!

A God Perspective is 100% relying on Him, trusting in Him, and believing in His plan, even though we do not know the answer to that common question “Why is this happening?”. Keep your faith strong so you can have a God Perspective all the time!
